At the start of every language course, we assess your current level of proficiency and discuss your goals and the language level you are aiming to reach.

The widely used Council of Europe’s Common European Reference Framework for Languages (CEFR) defines different levels of language proficiency to make the evaluation of language skills more transparent and easier to compare. These CEFR levels correspond to the ten Berlitz levels.

Berlitz Level 1 | CEF A1

You can communicate with elementary questions and answers in simple situations, e.g., when it comes to personal information.

You correctly work through other typical situations using your foreign language knowledge, such as introducing yourself, dealing with facts and figures, ordering a meal, or asking questions. In a conversation, you can participate in a simple way if your conversational partner speaks slowly and helps with repetitions.
