Language Exams and Tests

telc language certificates are required for education, university admission, and employment, and are internationally recognized by many institutions. They document your language proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing, and are available for 10 different languages.

In Germany, the telc Deutsch exam is often required for immigration, citizenship, or family reunification. It is also used in BAMF integration courses.

The TOEIC test is the global standard for workplace English. Accepted by over 14,000 companies in 160 countries, and by the German Federal Employment Agency, it’s the most widely used business English exam with over 7 million candidates annually. Test formats include Listening & Reading, Speaking & Writing, or all four combined.

TOEFL is commonly used for academic purposes, particularly university admission. The most widely known version is TOEFL iBT (internet-based test), while TOEFL ITP is used by institutions. There are also TOEFL Primary and Junior versions for younger learners. Be sure to confirm which version is required by your target institution.

IELTS is accepted worldwide for work, study, and immigration. It assesses English proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Results are scored on a 1–9 scale and accepted by over 11,000 institutions in more than 140 countries.

DELF is used to assess academic and professional French proficiency. It is a recognized certificate for non-native speakers of French.

The VPET is a 60-minute online test assessing speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It’s ideal for professional development or recruitment processes and replaces the older LCCI exam format. Results are available within minutes.

PTE is a modern alternative to TOEFL, offered since 2009. It’s accepted by over 130 institutions worldwide and assesses global English skills—not just British or American English.

Cambridge English qualifications are widely accepted by universities and employers around the world. Exams are available for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and test practical English usage in academic and workplace settings.
